RCCG To Hold September Holy Ghost Service Virtually Despite Church Reopening

Notwithstanding the government’s decision in reopening churches, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has announced that the much-expected September 2020 Holy Ghost Service would be held virtually.

The church made this known in a press statement on Tuesday, August 25, saying that it would continue with its online means of holding its service in order to keep its members safe.

While the church’s General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye is renowned for being a law-abiding citizen, myDAILYBELLS.com.ng recalls that before the lockdown was relaxed in Lagos, Ogun and other states, services were being held virtually.

According to the statement, the decision was taken because the General Overseer would not want to put anyone in harm’s way when they are commuting from their homes in attending the service.

The release also gave information on how their services can be accessed as it said: “All services will be relayed on Dove media, RTM, Redeemer’s Network Television, and on all other platforms of the church. We regret any inconvenience this might cause anyone and pray that the almighty God will compensate us adequately.”

Aside from the Holy Ghost service, the church added that the Young Adults and Youth 2020 convention billed to hold in October will also be conducted online.

Meanwhile, during the recently concluded 2020 Annual Convention, the RCCG overseer counted the blessings God gave the church during coronavirus lockdown.

While the convention was held online from the Redemption Camp situated along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and streamed worldwide, speaking in reference to the theme of the programme titled Wonderful, a caption which was chosen in 2019 before the pandemic, the cleric said that things that had happened since then showed that God was intentional about the theme.

Adeboye told RCCG members that despite everything that has happened, the church was still able to reach out to them wherever they may be and still have a “very, very wonderful convention”.

“Can you imagine why the Almighty God chose the theme for this Convention, even at a time when we had no idea how it is going to be?

“Now we have a Convention that is truly a world convention because all our brothers and sisters across the world are part and parcel of what is going on now,” he said.
