How Popular Sapele Hotelier Was Allegedly Beaten To Death By His Two Sons Over Side Chic
Police have arrested two children of prominent hotelier, Joseph Emekeme, also known as Semikolo and the Chairman of Covenant Suites, a well-known hotel chain in Sapele, Delta State, following his death on Saturday.
Reports indicate that Semikolo’s demise followed a series of distressing events involving his sons.
Sources said the man, who was also a Deacon of Winners Chapel, fell gravely ill after his sons assaulted him.
According to sources, the unfortunate incident began when Emekeme’s sons, who had recently graduated from Covenant University, discovered their father’s involvement with a woman other than their mother.
They allegedly confronted him, demanding a substantial bribe of one million naira to keep the affair a secret from their mother, who was vacationing in the United States at the time.
Refusing to yield to their blackmail, Emekeme called their bluff.
However, his sons followed through on their threat and informed their mother about the illicit relationship, causing her to become furious.
The following day, Emekeme visited his wife’s Coca-Cola depot, where his sons spotted him and aggressively forced him to leave.
Enraged by the encounter, Emekeme retaliated by taking the keys to his sons’ cars when he returned home. This action further escalated the situation, leading to a physical altercation between him and his sons.
In the midst of the altercation, Emekeme contacted the police for assistance, but sadly, one of the officers was injured by the sons during the confrontation.
Subsequently, the sons were apprehended by the authorities, and Emekeme was rushed to the hospital. However, his health rapidly deteriorated, prompting a transfer to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, where he fought for his life.
In a surprising turn of events, Emekeme’s wife promptly returned to the country and facilitated the release of their sons from police custody.
Against the doctor’s advice, she made the decision to discharge her comatose husband from UBTH and brought him back home.
Tragically, Emekeme’s condition worsened, and he succumbed to his injuries, passing away.
The untimely demise of Joseph Emekeme, a respected figure in the hotel industry, has shocked the community.
