BREAKING: Man City vs West Ham EPL clash postponed
Manchester City’s Premier League fixture against West Ham on Sunday has been postponed due to “extreme weather conditions” associated with Storm Ciara.
The extreme winter storm, which has been named widely named ‘Ciara’, approached from the Atlantic Ocean before making its way across northern Europe on Sunday morning.
Authorities have warned that the strong winter storm will bring hurricane-strength winds of up to 120 kilometres (75 miles) per hour, with heavy rain and thunderstorms also expected to hit parts of the continent.
The Hammers were due to take on the Premier League champions at 5.30pm Nigerian time on Sunday.
Meanwhile, West Ham have confirmed that tickets purchased for today’s fixture will remain valid for the rearranged fixture, with further details to follow in due course.
A number of other clashes across the fixture have been called off, including matches between Arsenal and Tottenham and West Ham and Manchester City in the Women’s Super League.
City are facing a headache with their fixture calendar, as their qualification for the Carabao Cup final means a league game against Arsenal also has to be rescheduled.
The Premier League champions face a minimum of 17 games between now and the end of the season, plus potential games in the next round of the FA Cup and Champions League.
