Adamawa NUJ Constitutes 3-Man Steering/Credentials Committee

Following the impunity, corruption, and lack of transparency in the Correspondents Chapel’s transactions in Yola, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Adamawa State has constituted a 3-man steering committee for the Correspondent’s Chapel Yola.
The 3-man steering committee, chaired by Comrade Daji Sani of Thisday Newspapers has Mrs. Amina Abduullahi of ‘Aminiya Daily Trust’ as Member while Mr. Onimisi Alao of the ‘The Nation Newspapers will serve as the Secretary.
This was contained in a Press release signed and made available to our Correspondent by the Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) Adamawa State Council Comrade Fidelis Jockthan.
The statement further stated that the constitution of the committee was as a result of the voluntary resignation of the entire EXCO of Correspondent’s Chapel on the 25th may 2020.
According to Fiidelis Jockthan, the terms of reference to the steering committee among others is to Restore peace and stability in the chapel and organise a fresh, transparent free and fair election into the various vacant positions within a time frame of two weeks.
“The steering committee is to liase with the state council periodically to avoid any constitutional breach with regards to conduct of the election” he stated.
The statement commended the maturity and foresight of the resignation of the EXCO, in taking a bold decision in the interest of the union.
The council equally urged the new steering committee to ensure that all properties belonging to the union, including instruments of leadership are safe.
