“Who Sent You?,” Pastor Adeyemi Reacts After Man Dragged Him and 49 Others to Court Over #EndSARS Protests

Pastor Sam Adeyemi of the Daystar Christian Centre on Tuesday has reacted to the lawsuit filed against him by a Nigerian activist called Kenechukwu Okeke.

News broke on Tuesday that Okeke had dragged 50 celebrities who were involved in the #EndSARS protests to court, claiming that they conspired to cause fear and also disturbed the peace of the nation.

The self-acclaimed activist also noted that his properties were destroyed during the course of the protest.

Reacting to the court papers that have been circulating on social media, Pastor Sam on his Twitter account asked: “Who sent this guy to file this guy to file this frivolous lawsuit?”

Yemi Alade, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Banky W, Paul Okoye, and Falz are some of the musicians whose names appeared in the court papers.

Other celebrities like comedian Taaooma, Uche Jombo, Tacha, Burna Boy, AY Makun, Don Jazzy among others were also listed in the court papers.

It would be recalled that Pastor Adeyemi had during the #EndSARS protests admonished the government that the voice of African youths must be heard.

He had condemned the attack on young Nigerian citizens involved in the non-violent End SARS protests by police officers.

The Pastor in a tweet via his Twitter account insisted that the idea of the voice of the African youth not being heard should not be sustained.

He said; “It is totally unacceptable for the police to fire teargas at young citizens attending non-violent #EndSARS protests.”

According to him, government should allow citizens prosper through land reforms, electoral reforms, change of constitution, devolution of power, world-class education, infrastructural development, access to capital.

“We cannot sustain the idea that the voice of the African youth is not to be heard.

“To our young citizens, please continue to speak. Speak as leaders, not as victims. Let the leaders respond.

“Press the point to negotiate for a win/win. The police/public officer is also sometimes a victim of a warped system. There has to be change in everything.

“We are not going to be leaders tomorrow, we are leaders already. Leaders lead with vision and broad perspective.

“The war is bigger. Have a clear picture of a developed Nigeria. Push for a change in values and in the power equation.

“I appeal to leaders in government and the police force, please listen and respond.

“The #EndSARS movement is a courageous commitment to change. When people are not heard, they raise their voices.

“This is a generational opportunity to move 200m people, mostly youths, to achieve development.

“The world has changed and political leaders need to know this and to lead with good advice.

“Building a developed economy is inevitable. Let citizens prosper through land reforms, electoral reforms, change of constitution, devolution of power, world-class education, infrastructural development, access to capital, etc.

“Creating or providing these requires courageous leadership. Let’s do it. God bless Nigeria and Africa,” he said.

Also, during the COVID-19 lockdown in the country, Pastor Adeyemi was reported to have told churches to provide food for the people around them.

The man of God admonished other clergymen to assist the needy as the coronavirus pandemic made many families unable to feed.

Adeyemi’s admonition to his colleagues earned him commendations from Nigerians, many of whom castigated churches for not stretching their ‘hands’ to the needy in the society, especially during the pandemic.

Nuella Peters, one of those who commended the man of God, noted that some churches had even asked members to pay their offerings using online means at this critical time.
