The acting Executive Director, Kebbi State Emergency Management Agency, Alhaji Abbas Rabiu Kamba has said that over 400 hundred internally displaced persons residing in Birnin Kebbi have benefitted from the agency’s intervention.

Speaking to journalists in his office in Birnin Kebbi, Kamba, who noted that items distributed to the IDPs include gallons of oil, bags of rice, beans, bottle water, yams, salt and detergent, said the materials are meant to serve as temporary relief to the victims.

Lamenting that the victims are indigenes of Kebbi, who fled Borno State due to the Boko Haram insurgency, the SEMA director said most of them are farmers and fishermen who also include women and children across ages.

Pointing out that the agency gave the relief materials to Bayan Oando area, Malala quarters and Takalau, all in Birnin kebbi, Kamba said other IDPs in other local governments would benefit as soon as more funds are released by the state government.

Reiterating that the state government is alive to its responsibilities of caring for her citizens, he called on wealthy individuals in the state to also give their contributions in complementing government’s efforts .

Though the leader of the IDPs was not around when the agency visited the camp, one of IDPs, who did not mention his name, thanked the agency for the relief materials, which he described as timely.
