Nestle Partners Brand Journalists on Consumers Rights Day
In commemoration of the 2023 World Consumers Rights Day (WCRD), Nestle Nigeria has announced its partnership with the Brand Journalists Association of Nigeria (BJAN).
To this end, the beverage firm would host BJAN members at its Agbara plant, Ogun State on March 15, 2023, a day set aside annually to celebrate the World Consumer Rights Day, with the aim of raising global awareness about consumer rights and needs.
Celebrating the day is a chance to demand that the rights of all consumers are respected and protected, and to protest against market abuses and social injustices which undermine those rights.
World Consumer Rights Day is globally recognised and accredited by the United Nations. For 40 years Consumers International has run the campaign, uniting the consumer movement to celebrate together. Consumers International Members help to select the campaign topic each year to help mobilise global action on pressing issues impacting consumers.
While the theme for the 2023 WCRD global theme is, “Empowering Consumers through Clean Energy Transitions,” according to BJAN, the theme has been modified to “The Green Economy: Building a Cleaner Safer World for Consumers” to suit the Nigerian society.
According to BJAN Chairman, Clara Chinwe Okoro, this year’s event will focus on the need to keep the environment safe.
“In keeping the environment safe, Brand writers will have the opportunity to hear from a global brand that has been in the business of sustainability for a long time”, Clara said.
Nestle Nigeria has consistently over the past years demonstrated commitment in the area of sustainable growth and development for the environment, agriculture, clean energy value chain management.
This year’s partnership with BJAN to celebrate the WCRD marks the first of it’s kind in the industry.
