Mowe-Ofada Community Sends SOS To Dapo Abiodun

…says dust from abandoned road killing us

MOWE TOWN— Residents of Mowe-Ofada have called on the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to quickly come to their rescue as the only major road in the town needs to be completed as soon as possible in order to alleviate the people’s sufferings.

The Mowe-Ofada road is in dire need of government’s quick attention for its completion as the half paved road condition has continued to be hazardous to health to passeryby and motorists since it was abandoned in 2015.

The road was said to have been commissioned by the administration of the immediate past governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, but the project was abandoned by the contractor, shortly after the 2015 general election.

When our correspondent visited the community recently, he was able to get to see how the condition of the road has been making life difficult for the residents and motorists.

For instance, the DailyBells correspondent observed that on daily basis, most shops owners and houses by the road battle with serious dust as their wares are always covered with dust within minutes.

Also, any time it rains, the whole area is enmeshed with erosion as the road is seriously flooded.

An Hausa tomatoes trader, who did not want his name in print said he had to relocate to another area as he couldn’t cope with the dusty road.

“Oga, abeg, I no fit cope with the dust, especially the way e dey blow for my nose. I dey always get catarrh and my body dey always dey dirty everyday.”

Another resident, Madam Morenike Olatunbosun, speaking on the development, told our reporter that her family members have always been visiting hospitals especially during the dry season as the dust has continued to cause health hazard to her children.

“The situation in this environment has been so bad that I almost lost one of my children as a result of the dust being inhaled on daily basis.”

“If not that my husband built house here, we could have relocated. I just can’t stand this situation again. Please help us to beg our governor to come to our rescue,” she submitted.
