Meet Seven AFRIMA Diamonds Poised to Shape Africa’s Music Future

The future of African music took centre stage in Lagos as the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), in partnership with the African Union Commission (AUC), officially unveiled seven emerging talents, tagged AFRIMA Diamonds, tipped to become the continent’s next generation of music stars.

At the AFRIMA Diamond Party and Prize Presentation held on June 3, 2026, at Voyage Lagos, Ellacentric, Black Astro, Yamayeh Vibez, Mayowa Afolabi, DELLFIRE, El Nayaan and Blinkz Baba were introduced as the latest members of the prestigious AFRIMA Diamonds programme.

Selected through a rigorous continent-wide talent discovery process, the seven artistes emerged from hundreds of entries submitted by aspiring musicians across Africa and were identified by AFRIMA’s International Jury as exceptional talents with the potential to make a significant impact on the global music scene.

Speaking at the event, AFRIMA President and Executive Producer, Mike Dada, challenged the young artistes to seize the opportunity and establish themselves as major forces in African music within the next few years.

According to Dada, the Diamonds were chosen not only for their talent but also for their passion, discipline and capacity to shape the future of African music.

He reiterated AFRIMA’s commitment to discovering, nurturing and promoting young African talents, stressing that the continent’s growing creative economy offers immense opportunities for youth empowerment, job creation and sustainable development.

The newly unveiled Diamonds entertained guests with energetic performances, earning loud applause from an audience that included entertainment executives, music professionals, influencers and industry stakeholders.

For many of the artistes, the recognition marked a major milestone. Black Astro described the initiative as a career-changing opportunity, while Mayowa Afolabi said being named an AFRIMA Diamond was a dream come true. Ellacentric expressed gratitude for the platform, noting that the experience reaffirmed the value of perseverance and hard work.

As part of their rewards, the seven artistes secured slots in the Showbiz 101 Workshop and Music Creation Camp organised by bridgeAFRIC, where they will receive mentorship and collaborate with some of Africa’s leading music producers and performers.

They also received professional music equipment from New Media Technologies Nigeria, distributors of SE Electronics products, to support their artistic development.

The event attracted notable personalities from across Africa’s entertainment and creative industries, including media personality Do2dtun, AFRIMA International Jury Head Olisa Adibua, CEO of Voyage Lagos Nader Issa, UK rapper SneaKBO and several other industry leaders.

With their official unveiling complete, the spotlight now turns to the seven AFRIMA Diamonds as they begin their journey towards continental and global recognition. If AFRIMA’s prediction proves correct, Africa may have just witnessed the emergence of its next music superstars.
