LIRS Extends Individual Tax Return Filing Deadline to April 21

The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service, LIRS, has announced a further extension of the deadline for filing individual annual income tax returns to April 21, 2026.

In a statement signed by Monsurat Amasa-Oyelude, Head of Corporate Communications at LIRS, the agency expressed appreciation to taxpayers for their continued compliance and commitment to fulfilling their tax obligations.

LIRS noted that following the earlier extension to April 14, there has been a surge in activity on its eTax platform as more taxpayers work to meet the deadline.

According to the agency, the additional extension is aimed at providing taxpayers with more time to successfully complete their filings, while ensuring accuracy and ease of submission.

The Service, however, reminded residents that filing annual income tax returns remains a statutory requirement and urged them to take advantage of the final extension.

The Executive Chairman of LIRS, Ayodele Subair, reiterated that all filings must be completed electronically via the official eTax platform, https://etax.lirs.net, which remains the only approved channel for submission.

Taxpayers seeking assistance are advised to visit any LIRS office or reach out through the agency’s official communication channels.
