Just In: FG Declares Wednesday, Thursday Public Holidays for Eid-ul-Adha Celebration

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28 as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration.

The announcement was made on Monday in Abuja through a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani.

According to the statement, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, approved the holidays on behalf of the Federal Government.

Tunji-Ojo said the declaration reflects the government’s respect for the faith, values and spiritual traditions of Muslims in Nigeria and across the world.

He urged Nigerians to use the Eid-el-Kabir period to pray for peace, unity and divine guidance for the country, while reaffirming the government’s commitment to national security, stability and economic prosperity.

Describing Eid-ul-Adha as a festival of profound spiritual importance, the minister said the celebration embodies the virtues of sacrifice, obedience to God and compassion for humanity.

He also extended the Federal Government’s greetings and best wishes to Muslim faithful in Nigeria and the diaspora as they celebrate the festival.

“Eid-ul-Adha is a festival of deep spiritual significance, grounded in the values of sacrifice, obedience to God and compassion for one’s fellow man.

“I send warm felicitations of the federal government to all Muslim faithful in Nigeria and in the diaspora,” Mr Tunji-Ojo said.
