JCN On The Highway Africa Celebrates 30 Years in Highway Journalism
JCN Consulting, publisher of On The Highway Africa, an industry magazine covering the transport and highway sectors, will mark 30 years of highway journalism in Nigeria and Africa with a legacy lecture and anniversary celebration on November 3, 2026, in Lagos.
The event, tagged “JCN @ 30 (1996–2026): 30 Years On The Highway,” is scheduled to be held at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Ikeja, Lagos, at 9 a.m.
The anniversary will bring together stakeholders across the transport, automotive, road safety, security, logistics, government and corporate sectors to examine the evolution of highway journalism and discuss the future of safe and sustainable mobility in Nigeria.
The anniversary lecture will address critical issues affecting the country’s highway sector, including road infrastructure, traffic congestion, road safety, emergency rescue services and the transition towards Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered transportation.
The organisers have proposed two themes for the celebration: “30 Years On The Highway: Safety, Security and Sustainability – From Bad Roads to CNG Revolution” and “The Nigerian Highway in 2026: Roads, Rolls & Rescue – Auditing Pain, Progress and the Pathway to Safe Mobility.”
As part of the celebration, the publication will unveil a special legacy magazine edition documenting its three-decade journey, contributions to road safety advocacy and role in raising public awareness of developments in the highway and transport industries.
Over the past 30 years, On The Highway Africa has reported on road conditions, traffic congestion and the experiences of road users, while advocating improved road safety and highlighting developments in road infrastructure, transportation and mobility.
The magazine has also broadened its coverage to reflect emerging trends in the transport industry, including Nigeria’s CNG initiative and the growing conversation around cleaner and more sustainable mobility alternatives.
Speaking ahead of the anniversary, the Publisher and Chief Executive of JCN Consulting, Mrs Julie Chi-Nwaoha, described the milestone as an opportunity to recognise the stakeholders, readers, partners and road users whose support has sustained the publication over the years.
“This is not just about me; it is about every road user, every stakeholder, every reader who has believed in our brand. Thirty years on the highway is by God’s grace and the support of great people who believe in me,” she said.
Chi-Nwaoha said the anniversary would provide an opportunity to celebrate the organisation’s achievements, reflect on its journey and chart a course for the future of safe and sustainable mobility in Nigeria.
According to the management, media partners, sponsors and well-wishers have begun expressing interest in supporting the anniversary, which is expected to provide a platform for dialogue on highway development, transportation safety and the policy priorities needed to improve mobility across the country.
The celebration marks three decades of the magazine’s engagement with highway and transport issues, reinforcing its commitment to road safety advocacy, public enlightenment and the promotion of safer roads across Nigeria and Africa.
