BREAKING: Veteran Nigerian Actor Olu Jacobs Dies at 84

Veteran Nigerian actor and film executive, Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, popularly known as Olu Jacobs, has reportedly died at the age of 84.

Reports circulating on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, say his son, Olusoji Jacobs, announced the actor’s death on Instagram, expressing the family’s gratitude for his life and appealing to the public to respect the family’s privacy.

Olu Jacobs, born on July 11, 1942, was one of Nigeria’s most recognisable actors, with a career spanning British television, international films, theatre and Nollywood.

He received numerous honours during his career, including the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) in 2011, the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards Industry Merit Award and the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
