2027: Tinubu Deserves Opportunity to Consolidate Reforms, Says APC Chairman

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election prospects, saying the President has earned Nigerians’ confidence through his leadership, economic reforms, and commitment to national development.

Yilwatda made the declaration at the flag-off of the APC presidential campaign in Kaduna State, where he welcomed President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima to the North-West, describing the event as a major step towards securing the party’s victory in the 2027 general election.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, the APC chairman said the enthusiasm at the campaign flag-off reflected growing support for the Tinubu administration, particularly among women, youths and other Nigerians who believe in its vision of a stronger and more prosperous country.

He described Tinubu as a courageous leader willing to take difficult but necessary decisions to address Nigeria’s longstanding challenges, insisting that the APC was united, organised and prepared to secure another presidential mandate.

“Mr President, the people have spoken, and their voice is loud and clear. Nigerians are happy. Our women are happy, our youths are happy, and the people are encouraged by your leadership. Today, we celebrate a courageous leader who has demonstrated the determination to take difficult but necessary decisions in the interest of our country,” Yilwatda said.

He maintained that the APC would anchor its 2027 campaign on the administration’s achievements, ongoing reforms and future development agenda, urging Nigerians to consider the long-term benefits of the policies being implemented rather than focusing solely on the immediate challenges.

According to him, the Tinubu administration has demonstrated the political will to confront difficult economic realities, strengthen national infrastructure and reposition the country for sustainable growth.

Yilwatda said a second term would provide the President with an opportunity to consolidate the gains of ongoing reforms, deepen economic transformation and translate the Renewed Hope agenda into improved livelihoods and shared prosperity.

“The task before us is to consolidate the gains, deepen the reforms and ensure that the promise of Renewed Hope translates into greater opportunities, improved livelihoods and shared prosperity for our people. We believe that the President deserves the opportunity to complete this work and take Nigeria to the next level,” he added.

A major highlight of the campaign flag-off was the presentation of APC flags by Yilwatda to the party’s seven governors in the North-West, signalling the party’s determination to strengthen its political structure and consolidate support across the region ahead of the 2027 elections.

The governors are Uba Sani of Kaduna, Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano, Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina, Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Nasir Idris of Kebbi, Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara.

The APC chairman urged the governors to sustain grassroots engagement, strengthen party unity and mobilise support for Tinubu and other party candidates.

He described the North-West as strategically important to the party’s national electoral prospects, noting that victory in 2027 would depend on effective grassroots mobilisation, clear communication of government policies and achievements, and cooperation among party leaders.

Yilwatda also called on party members, elected officials and supporters across the seven states to maintain unity, discipline and a shared sense of purpose throughout the campaign.

He commended the Kaduna State Government, under Governor Uba Sani, alongside party leaders, campaign organisers and supporters, for ensuring a successful commencement of the presidential campaign.

Reaffirming the party’s readiness for the 2027 elections, Yilwatda said the APC would take its record and future commitments to Nigerians through issue-based engagement and respect for democratic principles.

“The journey to 2027 has begun, and the APC is ready. We have a President with the courage to lead, a party with the capacity to mobilise and a vision centred on the prosperity of our people. Together, we will build on our achievements, confront our challenges and work towards a stronger Nigeria,” he said.
