Davido: Fadahunsi, Wole Oke Won’t Return to National Assembly as Long as I’m Alive

Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has declared that the All Progressives Congress, APC’s Senator Francis Fadahunsi and House of Representatives member Oluwole Oke will not return to the National Assembly, following their opposition to the re-election of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Davido made the comment on Tuesday in response to a post on X predicting that the two All Progressives Congress, APC, lawmakers would return to the National Assembly.

The post by a user identified as @Tobilola_ stated: “Fada and Wole Oke showed capacity sha. They’ll be returning to the National Assembly, I’m afraid.”

Davido, quoting the post, replied: “Not with me alive.”

Fadahunsi represents Osun East Senatorial District in the Senate, while Oke represents Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. Both lawmakers supported the APC’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji,  during the August 15 Osun governorship election, which was won by Governor Adeleke.

Davido’s comment also came amid controversy over the APC’s response to Adeleke’s victory.

Oke, who served as Director-General of the APC governorship campaign in Osun, had said the party was reviewing the election before deciding whether to congratulate Adeleke.

“We won’t be under any sort of pressure to easily reach out to congratulate Senator Ademola Adeleke,” Oke said in an interview with Arise News.

He also rejected the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declaration of Adeleke as winner, saying, “We do not agree with the declaration of INEC. That’s our position for now. We believe he did not score the highest valid votes.”

INEC declared Adeleke the winner after he polled 511,067 votes, ahead of APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who secured 444,815 votes. ADC candidate Najeem Salaam came third with 17,180 votes.

Adeleke won in 19 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11.

Following the declaration, Adeleke urged his APC challenger to congratulate him, describing such a gesture as the “civilised thing to do.”

Oke, however, said the APC campaign organisation would complete its review of the election before taking further action.

He disclosed that the party had begun an audit of the election, directing its agents to submit copies of Forms EC8A, EC8B and EC8C for examination.

“We have embarked on an audit process. We have asked all our party agents to submit copies of Forms EC8A, B, and C to our secretariat for review. We need to inspect the materials,” Oke said.
