BREAKING: Police Impose 3-Day Dusk to Dawn Curfew in Bayelsa as Protesters Invade Residence of Gov-elect, Destroy Cars, Windows
Bayelsa State Police Command has announced a three-day dusk to dawn curfew in the state following pockets of violence that broke out in the state capital, Yenagoa.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Uchd Anozie who made the announcement, said the curfew last from 8pm to 6am.
Earlier, protesters had broke into the residence of Douye Diri, Bayelsa governor-elect, in Yenagoa, vandalising some cars.
The protesters, who had earlier blocked some roads in the state capital, also shattered some windows in the building.
They had expressed dissatisfaction with the supreme court judgment which sacked David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who was declared winner of the November 2019 governorship election.
It’s unclear if the governor-elect was at home at the time of the attack.
