Arsenal on Sunday defeated Manchester City on penalties to win the 2023 FA Community Shield.

Arsenal won the Community Shield to end Manchester City’s silverware streak with a 4-1 penalty shoot-out victory after a 1-1 draw against the treble winners on Sunday.

Cole Palmer had given City the lead late in the second half, but Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri missed their penalties before Fabio Vieira converted the decisive kick in the annual curtain-raiser to the Premier League season.

The Football Association Community Shield (formerly the Charity Shield) is English football’s annual match contested at Wembley Stadium between the champions of the previous Premier League season and the holders of the FA Cup.
