COVID-19: Adamawa ALGON Throws Weight Behind Fintiri

As the fight against COVID-19 pandemic continues nationwide, the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, Adamawa State chapter, has thrown its support for the State Government in its fight against the deadly virus.

The ALGON Chairman, Hon. Jingi Rufai said the gesture is in line with their joint efforts in assisting the government so as to prevent the pandemic from spreading to the state, insisting that the association found it imperative to support government in waging war against the disease.

Hon. Rufai, who is also the Executive Chairman of Mubi South LGA, noted with concern how the disease has brought the whole world to a standstill, explaining that it was in view of the spread of the disease that the association found it necessary to support the relentless efforts of the government in containing it.

In supporting the state government’s effort, the association provided for onward distribution to the people at the grassroots, items which include 2,166 assorted hand sanitizers, 500 packets of hand gloves and 500 packets of infrared thermometer among others worth millions of Naira.

Rufia further disclosed that the association, under his leadership, donated the preventive items to complement Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s efforts in sensitising the general public, as well as creation of isolation centres and provision of palliatives among others.

The ALGON Chairman pointed out that the association believes that the items will go a long way in assisting people at the grassroots, urging on the citizens to remain resolute, law abiding and strictly adhere to government’s order in avoiding crowded areas, hand shake and observe regular hand washing and social distancing.

Responding while collecting the items on behalf of their LGAs, the Executive Chairmen of Jada and Toungo, Abdulkarim Bakala and Kefas Calvin, appreciated the leadership of ALGON for the gesture and promised to judiciously distribute the items to their electorate.
