Contrary to the criticisms that have continued to trail the nation\u2019s increasing debt profile, the Federal Government on Monday says it is borrowing \u201csensibly and responsibly.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, said this at a press conference in Abuja.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n She was joined at the brieifing by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, and some other top government officials from her ministry.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Ahmed was answering a question on whether the government\u2019s continue borrowing is not capable of impacting negatively on the economic growth recorded so far recorded.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n But the minister explained that the government only borrow to invest on infrastructures that will later yield proceeds for the country.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cWe are borrowing sensibly and responsibly to invest in critical infrastructures.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThese investments will make returns in future,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Contrary to the criticisms that have continued to trail the nation\u2019s increasing debt profile, the Federal Government on Monday says it is borrowing \u201csensibly and responsibly.\u201d The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, said this at a press conference in Abuja.
